CIO: Health systems could reap benefits from physician EMR integration

North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System is looking to accelerate its electronic medical records implementation in both its inpatient and affiliate doctors' offices in order to reap HITECH incentives, said CIO John Bosco. In this interview, Bosco also said that by successfully integrating physicians with the health system's EMR technology, "we reduce unnecessary testing in our facilities and by the physicians" and "eventually bring down the cost of patient care."
