EU regulator will conduct banks' stress tests in February

The newly created European Banking Authority will launch a fresh round of stress tests for banks in February, said Olli Rehn, EU commissioner for economic and monetary affairs. The round will be part of an effort to more strictly monitor financial institutions. Rehn said specific methodology for the tests will be announced soon, but he offered some details. "Liquidity assessment needs to be included in future stress tests on the banking sector," he said.
