Clear Channel's Pittman draws sharp line between radio, digital services

Radio's live hosts and dynamism sharply distinguish the medium from services such as Pandora, Slacker and Spotify, says Bob Pittman, chairman of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Platforms. Listeners to these services, which provide personal music selection, often grow bored and switch over to radio, Pittman said at the Arbitron Client Conference this week in Baltimore. Even so, radio needs to follow its listeners online, he notes.
