Canadian book retailers optimistic as circumstances change

Last year, the Canadian dollar was roughly the same value as the American dollar, which made the prices of books printed on their jacket appear to be a bargain in the US and a rip-off north of the border. Retailers as well as publishers in Canada's book market are cautiously optimistic as they head into the important holiday season because the situation has changed. "Books are under-priced vis-à-vis the exchange rate right now," said Random House of Canada President Brad Martin.
