Indian retail chain bets on gadgets as it expands

HotSpot, a retailer of multibrand mobile phones and accessories in India, is betting that consumers' love of gadgets will allow it to ride out the economic downturn and spur its expansion. "We plan to expand from the current 475 outlets to 600 to 650 outlets by the end of this month and almost 1,500 by next year-end," HotSpot CEO Sanjeev Mahajan said.
