Survey: Pet owners skip wellness visits

A survey from the American Veterinary Medical Association finds that 9.6% of cat owners and 3.5% of dog owners never take their pets to a vet, and 27.1% of cat owners and 10.8% of dog owners go to a vet only when the pet is ill. "What is most perplexing is that so many dog and cat owners understand that routine checkups and preventive health care are important for their pets," said AVMA President Doug Aspros, DVM.
