Illinois said to gain from renewable-energy provisions in Senate tax bill

Illinois would see the benefits of the Senate's proposal to extend the ethanol tax credits and other renewable-energy supports as part of a broad compromise on taxes, writes Paul Merrion. The state is one of the biggest ethanol-producing states and the home of Archer Daniels Midland and 13 wind-energy firms. Congress is expected to approve the measure this week, despite criticism from some lawmakers, Merrion adds.
