ACC sees moderate recovery for chemicals industry in 2012 and beyond

U.S. gross domestic product and chemical output will grow slowly in 2012 as the global economy absorbs the effects of the European debt crisis, according to the American Chemistry Council's year-end outlook. "A global soft-patch has emerged and has been centered on manufacturing. ... The likelihood is that the United States will avoid another recession, but that economic growth will not reach long-term trend levels until 2013,” said ACC chief economist Kevin Swift.
