Cable networks are placing an even bigger priority on developing original scripted and reality series, and they'll face even more pressure to retain their audiences as broadcast network rivals begin to compete with them for retransmission consent fees, writes Wayne Friedman. "Quality content will be the king of kings, perhaps the only type that'll attract viewers' interest and money," he writes.
