N.Y. DOT shuts down Candor bridge due to concrete deterioration

Though construction of a replacement bridge for state Route 96 bridge in Candor, N.Y., won't begin until 2014, the existing bridge will be shut down permanently starting this week for safety purposes. "A recent inspection of the bridge has found significant deterioration in the concrete deck that has reduced the ability of the bridge deck to carry vehicular traffic," explained the New York Department of Transportation.
