Shell plans to develop cellulosic-ethanol plant in Canada

Royal Dutch Shell is in the preliminary stages of a plan to develop a commercial-scale cellulosic-ethanol plant in Manitoba, said Jeff Gabert, a spokesman for Shell Canada. The proposed Solstice Cellulosic Ethanol plant would use technology from Iogen to convert straw into about 10 million gallons of ethanol per year.
