Device helps dentists spot oral cancer

A new device called a VELscope uses blue LED light to detect precancerous or otherwise abnormal oral tissue, which shows up as dark spots. Nonsmokers younger than 50 comprise the fastest-growing group of oral cancer patients, research shows.
