Groundbreaking woman now helps club attract single females, families

Maggie Pizzone broke gender barriers at the White Beeches club in Haworth, N.J., in the '80s when she joined as an individual member -- the first woman to join who wasn't married to or a daughter of a male member. Pizzone has since won 11 championships at the club, has served on its board twice and is helping the club revolutionize to attract more members. "We're rebranding the club as family-friendly, as female-friendly," says general manager Tracy Fraus. "We're trying to break that mold, to not be the old, stuffy golf course, but to be the type of place where the entire family wants to come and spend time."
