Preemies, small babies at greater risk for esophagitis

The risk of developing esophagitis during childhood was higher among babies born prematurely or small for their gestational age, according to a Swedish study in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The link between premature birth and the disease was more pronounced among male patients than females aged 9 and younger, while the opposite was seen for the association with SGA, researchers said.
