IBM opens drug discovery database to the NIH

IBM will open its database of about 2.4 million chemical compounds to the NIH for research. AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DuPont and Pfizer collaborated with IBM to compile the database based on millions of patent filings and journal abstracts published between 1976 and 2000.
