CDC aims to increase use of folic acid among Hispanics

The CDC is promoting several initiatives aimed at promoting the use of folic acid supplements during pregnancy to help reduce incidences of neural tube defects within the Latino community. Latinas face higher risks of having babies with folic acid-related birth defects than other women due to diet, lack of awareness and health care access, according to experts and research.
