Hackers have U.S. financial sector in the cross hairs, experts warn

The U.S. financial industry could face a wave of cyberattacks next year when a little-known sleeper malware wakes up and may start siphoning funds from as many as 30 banks, security expects said in a report. According to McAfee Labs, the malware is part of a four-year cyberfraud campaign, Project Blitzkrieg, promoted by a Russian hacker known as "vorVzakone." The campaign will reach its full potential in the spring of 2013 when dormant aspects of the malware become active.
