Texas school council makes teacher wellness a priority

Employee physical and mental wellness are 2013 priorities for the Midland, Texas, School Health Advisory Council, along with reducing teen drinking. Nancy Surber, the district's director of athletics, physical education and health, said most Texas school districts do not have an employee wellness program but many similar-sized corporations do and the district should follow that lead. "If teachers improve their health, they'll be more productive in their jobs and model positive health for children," she said.
