Washington, D.C.-area politicians oppose Pentagon job cuts

Members of the House whose districts surround Washington, D.C., have asked the House-Senate negotiation teams to remove language from the Senate's defense authorization bill requiring the Pentagon to cut an estimated 5% of its civilian and contractor jobs. The cuts, which account for approximately 36,000 jobs, were introduced by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
