Esri's chief scientist talks about GIS, ocean mapping

Esri's chief scientist, Dawn Wright, worked on mapping the ocean floor as a professor of geography and oceanography at Oregon State University. "In terms of mapping the ocean many still don't understand that the majority of it is unmapped at the highest levels of detail that we need in order to sustain and protect it," she explains in this interview. GIS technology will allow urban areas to be designed in a more sustainable fashion, she adds.
