Loss of tax credits could sink Neb.'s cellulosic-ethanol sector

Nebraska's cellulosic-ethanol industry could be hurt if Congress does not extend the Cellulosic Biofuel Producer Tax Credit and the Special Depreciation Allowance for Cellulosic Biomass Ethanol Plant Property, which are both scheduled to lapse at the end of 2012, supporters said. Allowing the tax incentives to expire could stop the industry's development "in its tracks," said Steve Sorum, ethanol project manager for the Nebraska Ethanol Board.
