Treasurer-elect is censured by Pa. county's Republican committee; surety denies bond

The Republican committee of Perry County, Pa., has opted to censure the county's treasurer-elect for failing to disclose before the election that she had been arrested on charges of shoplifting. The committee has not asked the woman to resign. One insurance company declined to bond the treasurer-elect, and the county commissioners had expressed their concerns in a letter, the commission chairwoman said.
