Utility asks Mont. regulators to clear wind farm purchase

NorthWestern Energy asked the Montana Public Service Commission to endorse the company's acquisition of the planned Spion Kop wind project in Judith Basin County, Mont., and allow its cost to be factored into ratepayers' bills. The $86 million wind project is the "lowest-cost renewable project that NorthWestern can procure today," company attorney Al Brogan told the commission.
