Researchers inaugurate era of "epidermal electronics"

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed a flexible class of integrated circuit that can be worn on the body like a bandage. The "bio chip" -- roughly 5 microns thick -- peels off like dead skin and may one day be used in medical applications. The team is also working on a version that can be dissolved in water after it has outlived its usefulness.
