Texas cuts highway mowings in half

Texas has reduced the number of mowings for the grass along inner-city highways to three times a year from six as part of an effort to reduce costs. Officials said they need the mowing funds to repair road surfaces and bridges. They also note that a single mowing for all the state highways typically costs $1 million.
