Childhood obesity rate dips in NYC schools, CDC says

The number of obese children in kindergarten to eighth grade in New York City fell by 5.5% from 2006-2007 to 2010-2011, CDC researchers wrote in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. The report showed that obesity rates among elementary- and middle-school students in the city's public schools dropped from 21.9% in 2006-2007 to 20.7% in 2010-2011.
