Data: Few of England's struggling students improve

England's school league tables show that three-fourths of students who struggle in reading, writing and maths in primary school do not improve in later grades. Data also show that 39% of students considered advanced in early grades do not leave school performing at advanced levels. "The fact that only a quarter of low attainers at age seven go on to meet the expected Level 4 in English of maths when they leave primary school is not good enough," said Shadow Education Secretary Stephen Twigg.
