Subway's $5 footlong program has proved perennially popular, but the sandwiches still cost five times as much as the dollar-menu items at many quickservice rivals, spurring the addition recently of a $2 sandwich promotion. Wendy's has also found a way to fight back in the low-priced category, with new W burgers priced just under $3.
