Conference challenges manufacturers to go greener

A common theme ran through last week's four-day Sustainability Summit in Virginia: Investing in green initiatives boosts the bottom line. Manufacturers and merchants increase profits when they take steps such as cutting power usage, streamlining distribution systems and creating greener products, said speakers at the event. The summit was sponsored by the Food Marketing Institute and the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
