Rule would require device, drug firms to report payments to providers

The CMS proposed mandating that payments made by medical-device and drug companies to teaching hospitals and doctors be reported to a public database. The proposed rule, included as a provision in the Affordable Care Act, is up for comments through Feb. 17.
