FTC is working on privacy rules for app notification, child targeting

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission will meet today to discuss standards for user privacy notifications when it comes to advertisers collecting mobile application location data. The group is also expected to move ahead soon with regulations that restrict deliberate online data collection from children under 13. "It may seem like a hodgepodge of disparate projects, but they're all working toward giving consumers more control over collection of their mobile data," writes Kate Kaye.
