Lawmakers team up to pressure U.S. agencies on energy efficiency

Two congressmen have launched a bipartisan effort to increase energy efficiency in the nearly 3 billion square feet of building space owned and operated by the federal government. The Energy Savings Performance Caucus -- which was formed by Reps. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and Peter Welch, D-Vt. -- is hoping to encourage federal agencies to put $2 billion in funds earmarked for energy efficiency projects to use on project to reduce energy consumption and waste.
