Study: Utilities to spend $20 billion on Big Data analytics over 9 years

To quantify and analyze how smart grid technology is changing its operations and how consumers use power, electrical utilities are forecast to spend $20 billion over the next nine years on Big Data analytics applications, according to GTM Research. Utility expenditures on data tracking will reach $1.1 billion in 2013 and $3.8 billion a year by 2020, the market research firm forecasts.
