New screening program puts requirements on agents, GDSs, airlines

The federal government will start requiring agents, airlines, global distribution systems and online travel sellers to collect each airline passenger's full name, gender and birth date beginning as soon as January. ASTA has been discussing the changes and their implementation with the Transportation Security Administration. ASTA expects that the plan will be phased in starting with an airline or two, according to Paul Ruden, senior vice president of legal and industry affairs at ASTA.
