Cable net for socially conscious millennials will launch in 2013

Participant Media, the company behind "An Inconvenient Truth," "Food, Inc." and other films, is developing its own cable network for millennials for a summer debut. The company has acquired The Documentary Channel and the distribution rights for Halogen TV, but will use a different name for the channel, to be revealed later. Evan Shapiro, who formerly helmed IFC and Sundance Channel, will be in charge of the new network.
