The changing face of the department store

Upscale department stores around the globe are looking to stay current with their customers, with some such as Le Bon Marché in Paris opening on Sunday and adding family-friendly features to draw bigger crowds. Others, including Canada's Hudson's Bay and Holt Renfrew, recently announced plans for pricey upgrades and expansions. "We didn’t want people to come here just to buy. We wanted them to come to discover, and then from there, to have focused talking points,” said Le Bon Marché executive Frédéric Bodenes.
