Ore. tech companies seek home-grown talent

Some Oregon companies recently opened their doors to school district and college officials to try to expand educators' knowledge about the kinds of jobs available in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Participants agreed that students need more exposure to STEM fields but acknowledged barriers to meeting this goal. To that end, some education leaders have formed STEM co-ops that seek to give students more opportunities such as internships with engineers and hands-on learning.
