Glaser: Challenges will occur before progress in health IT adoption

John Glaser, CIO of Partners HealthCare, says EHRs and computerized order entry will cut costs and improve quality of care, but that it will be awhile before most Americans have access to this technology. "There will be different levels of pain, and a form of chaos, before order," he says. Glaser also says health IT can ease costs but will not solve the overall cost problem.
