Somalia's hard-line Shebab militia has banned United Nations Mine Action from operating in the country. "They have been attempting to disrupt peace and justice by bribing various community elders and inciting them to rebel against the Islamic administration. Furthermore, they have been surveying and sign-posting some of the most vital and sensitive areas under the control of the Mujahideen," the group said in a statement. The ban comes a month after the group tried to impose additional restrictions on UN workers, such as firing women workers and stripping all logos from their vehicles.
