Death tied to legionella at Pa. hospital was preventable, lawsuit says

Legionnaires' disease was named as a secondary cause of death for an 87-year-old man who died last month amid an outbreak of the disease at a Pittsburgh Veterans Affairs hospital, attorney Harry Cohen said. The man's family has filed a lawsuit against the Pittsburgh VA. "It appears as though the VA failed to properly maintain its water systems, despite recurring illnesses at the hospital and despite warnings from experts," said Cohen, who is representing the family.
