Lifestyle changes lead to diabetes remission in study

More than 11% of diabetes patients who underwent an intensive diet and exercise program attained partial disease remission at one year, compared with only 2% in the non-intervention group, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Patients with a shorter diabetes duration, greater weight loss or stronger fitness gains were more likely to see improvements in blood glucose, researchers said.
