Home-improvement market is due for an upturn

Three-quarters of boomers remain bullish on the idea of owning a home despite the depressed market, a sentiment that spans the generations, and the home-improvement industry is likely to benefit in the short term, according to a Meredith Corp. study. The survey found that 40% of homeowners plan to spend at least $500 on improvements over the next six months.
