FTC investigates data brokers on privacy issues

Acxiom, Datalogix, Intelius and six other U.S. data brokers have received subpoenas from the Federal Trade Commission, which is looking into allegations that consumers' privacy was violated. Acxiom's Jennifer Barrett Glasgow wrote in an e-mail that "We consider this request as an avenue to promote a better understanding of why what we do is vital for the American economy as it creates enormous value for people and businesses while respecting and protecting consumers' interests."
