Texas board rejects Everyday Math text

The Texas state board of education's decision to reject the widely used Everyday Mathematics textbook for third-graders because it does not push students to memorize multiplication tables or solve math problems without the aid of calculators echoes long-familiar math battles across the nation. The decision prevents districts from using state money to purchase the textbooks.
