New York Times Co. prepares to sell regional papers

To concentrate on its principal newspapers and digital products, The New York Times Co. is negotiating a sale of 16 regional papers. Halifax Media Holdings of Daytona Beach, Fla., is looking to buy titles in states including Alabama, California, North Carolina and Florida. "The Times is moving even more quickly to double down on its investment in its flagship newspaper, which is essentially its future, and that future is digital," said media analyst Ken Doctor.
