NPD In-Stat: Less demand for set-top boxes in North America

Global shipments of cable set-top boxes will decline 1% this year to just over 55 million units, with lower demand in North America being offset by robust business in Asia, according to NPD In-Stat. The decline in North American cable television households is among the trends noted by the market research firm. Motorola Mobility is still the top manufacturer of set-top boxes, trailed by Cisco Systems.
