Progress stalled among Australian students

Data from Australia show that since national literacy and maths exams were introduced five years ago, students' progress has stalled and, in Year 7, students are performing worse in maths. The results of exams also show that -- similar to international trends -- female students in Australia excel in reading and boys outperform girls in maths.
