Study: Early menopause may raise type 2 diabetes risk

Women who went through menopause at a younger age had higher odds of developing type 2 diabetes compared with those who were older when menopause started, according to a study in Diabetes Care. The findings suggest that women who enter menopause before age 40 "may be a high-risk group to target for diabetes screening," said epidemiologist Elsa Strotmeyer, who was not involved in the study.
