Desire for real-time data leads to more hidden cameras

Chicago-based ShopperTrak uses 40,000 hidden cameras in stores and malls to mine consumer data, and includes Gap, Limited Brands and American Eagle Outfitters among its clients. Other companies also have set up their own shopper research studies using hidden cameras and say they don't usually capture images of customer faces, but some privacy advocates are still unhappy with the practice.
