Covidien gets FDA approval for microwave ablation system

Covidien has secured 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Evident microwave ablation system, which is designed to eliminate liver tumors in patients who are not fit to undergo surgical resection. The product enables clinicians to perform laparoscopic, percutaneous and other types of ablations in about 10 minutes, Covidien said.
